Lighthouses of Maine : I went for a trip to Maine specifically to shoot lighthouses, which i knew the state had some, and sample Maine lobsters. I knew beforehand that i will be going to a place where lobster shacks are as prominent as pizzerias in New York City. Only when i picked up a Maine lighthouse guide book from the airport did i realize that Maine has a lot of lighthouses scattered along its coast from the southernmost part of Kittery to Down East near the Canadian border. More than sixty standing lighthouses, established as early as 1791, more than any other state except Michigan, and every one, they say, is worth a visit. Some can be reached by car, some can be reached by boat, and some can only be seen from afar or from the air. I am so thrilled by the idea of shooting as many lighthouses as i can during this short visit. I knew it would be more about the adventure in finding them other than anything else. Out of more than sixty lighthouses, and after hundreds of miles driving on highways and remote dirt roads in the mountains, i only managed to visit nine, and they are right, they are all worth the visit. And am sure i'll be going back for rest of them. :)
